The Youth Services
(YS) program, located in the Youth Center (YC) building #297, offers a range of positive activities that promotes healthy
development for youth in grade 6th -12th. The goal at
the YC is to provide programs that encompass a variety of safe, supervised
activities for middle school and teen (MST) on weekdays during out of
school hours, evenings, and weekends. The MST programs offered at the YC
promote youth development in the following four service areas:
The YC is very active
in enriching the lives of each teen through Life Skills and leadership.
These areas include BGCA components such as the Keystone Club, Torch
club, and Power Hour. Teens have an opportunity to exchange
with other BGCA clubs and throughout the year. Community Service
projects, Youth sponsorship, workforce prep development and life skills work
shops are some of the highlights throughout the year.
The YC
offers a Homework Center for teens who desire tutoring in all subject areas.
Parent and youth support groups, Brat chat, Mentorship programs assist in
build better relationships with their families for growing teens.
Teens that are
pursuing college entry have opportunities in SAT and ACT test taking
development and scholarship search symposiums.
The YC has a Youth
Technology Lab that may assist anyone with a variety of educational searches. Leisure and recreation areas
provide a vast array of things to explore through Recreational field trips,
educational tours, self directed open recreation, cultural arts and
interactive social events and BGCA Career Launch incentives.
Other Club
opportunities include; 4-H activities such as Remote Control Car Club,
Cooking Club, Technology Club, Fine Arts Club, Photo club, Volunteer
Projects, visual arts and performing arts programs.
The YC Snack Bar is
open daily during operational hours that offers a wide variety of snacks
that are USDA approved and the food menu is on of the best when it comes to
satisfying teens after school.
